Author Spotlight: Dr. Nader Frank Nowparast, author of 700 Poetic Points

Dr. Nader Frank Nowparast

Dr. Nader Frank Nowparast is a psychologist and poet born in Tehran, Iran in 1931. At age 25, in 1956, he move to the United States on student visa to take up a degree in psychology, courtesy of a four-year scholarship awarded by the U.S. Government.

In the U.S., Dr. Nowparast earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and completed 60 units of Ph.D. Program in Clinical Psychology. Apart from his academic achievements, he also provided comprehensive psychological services at Oklahoma State Penitentiary from 1962 to 1964 and served for the Youth Development Centers in Canonsburg and Cornwells Heights in the State of Pennsylvania from 1966 to 1969. At Pennsylvania State University, Nowparast taught psychology on a part-time basis between 1967 and 1969.

Then he returned to Tehran in 1970 to join the faculty of the University of Tehran’s Department of Psychiatry, which operates the Roozbeh Psychiatric Hospital where Dr. Nowparast was a Psychological Clinician from 1974 to 1979. Prior to that, he provided comprehensive psychological services at the University of Tehran’s Students Counseling & Testing Center from 1970 to 1973. Perhaps, Dr. Nowparast’s greatest contribution to the field of psychology in Iran is his role in the development and operation of the M.S. Degree Program in Clinical Psychology.

In addition, Dr. Nowparast has created the Student Counseling Center at the College of Computer Science Application, where he served as the Director while being a practitioner and teacher at the same time. As a teacher, he taught at seven academic institutions in Iran. He also contributed to the scientific adaptation of various psychological tests into Farsi Language in a professional capacity.

In 1979, Dr. Nowparast went back to the U.S. and completed his Doctoral Dissertation, for which he obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1980. After that, he privately practiced Clinical and Forensic Psychology in Southern California from 1985 to 2006. He also practiced his profession as a certified Qualified Medical Evaluator between 1991 and 2006. Dr. Nowparast imparted his deep knowledge in psychology with students taking up graduate and undergraduate studies at various universities such as Newport University, University of California in Irvine, National University and Janus University. Dr. Nowparast is also a staunch defender of human rights and a fighter against sexism, aegism, and racism. He has high regard toward humanity and detests all forms of abuses.
