“Brightfire: A Tale of Sutton Hoo” by P.M. Sabin Moore has been officially released by ARPress

Historical novel fans might be delighted to know that Author Reputation Press has just released a new book titled Brightfire: A Tale Of Sutton Hoo by P.M. Sabin Moore.

Brightfire is the sequel to Moore’s Storm Frost and covers the events during and after the reign of Anglo-Saxon King Raedwald of Sutton Hoo, who is buried in his ship.

Set mostly in King Raedwald’s homestead nearby, the story took place between 608AD and 633AD when Christianity struggles to take control of the eastern side of Britain. Also, some scenes are set in Northumbria and elsewhere.

Niartha from Storm Frost remains a key character here, and so does her son, Ricberht, now a goldsmith. Eorpwald, Raedwald’s son, detests Christians and jealous of other successful young men (including Ricberht). He is noted for his cruelty despite his father’s efforts to tame him during his lifetime. After King Raedwald’s death, nobody can control Eorpwald from harming even his own people.

The book depicts scenes of fighting and feasting, rescue and rape, cruelty and kindness, laughter and grief. Brightfire is loosely based on a small portion of the early Anglo-Saxon history that we know, provided by Saint Bede, who wrote his History in 731, just over a century after Raedwald died.

You can purchase Brightfire via our online bookstore, available in both digital and paperback versions. Over the next few weeks, the book will also go live on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.
