Author Spotlight: Hazel Larcombe, author of “The Magic Dumligo”
Hazel Larcombe, author of The Magic Dumligo, enjoys writing stories for kids and takes inspiration for her book’s setting from a small village in the scenic Eastern Transvaal, South Africa, called Sabie.
It was also in this village where Hazel, as a child, learned to swim and fish in the rivers, explore dark caves, picnic under willow trees, and dive into crystal clear pools.
She has also traveled a lot. For 12 years, Hazel lived in England. At present, she resides in Victoria, Canada.
Hazel’s book draws some experiences parallel to real life, and seeing it published is her ambition.
It follows the story of Billy and Annie who go on fishing in a lake aboard a boat during their 13th birthday when they see a mysterious purple mist descending upon them.
Then it turns into a purple beckoning finger. The two kids encounter different magical creatures such as Dumligo, a strange three-horned pony with magical powers.
The Magic Dumligo will be released soon by Author Reputation Press.
