Author Spotlight: Dexter Satterwhite, author of “Poems And Other Nonsense”
Dexter Satterwhite, author of Poems And Other Nonsense, is a retired instructor of history and government classes at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas.
Satterwhite graduated from Lufkin High School in 1968 and enrolled at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas the fall of that year. He graduated from the university in the spring of 1972.
He met his wife, Mary, while in college. Later in 1972, they got happily married. His wife is a retired Language Arts teacher at Lufkin Middle School. The author has lived in Lufkin all his life.
Satterwhite also worked in his family’s business for thirty years. When it became apparent that he had to change career, he enrolled in graduate school at Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall of 1998 to study history.
The author received a Master of Arts Degree in History in the late summer of 2000 and began to teach at Angelina College that fall. He later took eighteen graduate hours in Political Science. He has been on the faculty of Angelina College since 2005 until retirement.
He has one son who is a graduate of Texas A&M University and currently resides in San Antonio, Texas.
