H. Allenger’s “Polyxena” also highlights some of our favorite Amazonian characters
Author H. Allenger has managed to incorporate a lot of characters from the lore of Greek mythology into his book Polyxena. One of those interesting characters is Antiope, daughter of Ares and sister to Melanippe, Hippolyta, Penthesilea and possibly Orithyia, all queens of the Amazons.
Allenger describes Antiope as a true blue Amazon in her total hatred against the male gender.
That said, the author still made her out to be a stunningly beautiful woman in his novel. According to Allenger, even Helen would have found serious rivalry with her, at least from the point of view of Polyxena who narrates the book to readers.
Allenger admits that he did this so that men reading Polyxena will mourn their loss while still being attracted to this intriguing lady.
