Walter Oleksy talks about his books with Benjie Cole for People of Distinction

Walter Oleksy, author of several books including A Midnight Clear, The Stolen Smile: Mona Lisa Murders, Tomorrow, Christmas with the Famous, Aging Well 2020 and Caregiving, Princess Diana 2020, Clouds Over Pemberley, and The Murder of the Month Club shares all his ideas and inspirations behind his creations with Benjie Cole from Al Cole Enterprises.

During the interview, Oleksy discussed about aging, taking cues from how he took care of his mother when he was young. He says taking care of the old was one of the hardest things to do because you got to be patient all the time.

The author also talked about his book about Princess Diana. It puts together all the pieces together for a more comprehensive emotional portrait of the beloved but enigmatic Princess 22 years after her tragic and unexpected death at age 36 in 1979. We learn more about her through knowing about the thirteen men who were in her love life as she was on a quest for love all her short life.

Oleksy has been a freelance writer of magazine articles and nonfiction for adults, children, middle readers, young adults. He has authored more than 50 books, nonfiction for adults, and both nonfiction and fiction for young readers.

The author grew up in Chicago from Ukrainian-Austrian parents. He attended the two-year University of Illinois at Navy Pier from 1951 to 1953 where he was vice president of a student organization promoting the need for a four-year university. It was fulfilled later in the form of The University of Illinois in Chicago at Circle Campus. Oleksy was graduated with a degree in journalism from Michigan State University (1953-1955).
