Dr. Tyrone Waters, D.D., has finally published his book, YOU WOULD BE PARANOID TOO IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU U.S. DESTRUCTIVE PRACTICES: A True Life Story Told By Dr. Tyrone Waters D.D.,Drs. On The Subject Of Mental Health.
The book touches on mental health racism and reveals the events leading up to his shooting by Portland Police during a mental breakdown outside his home in 2001.
Dr. Waters and his mother, retired State Sen. Avel Gordly, received community service awards from the American Jail Association in 2010 at the Oregon Convention Center. The award was meant to honor his courage in speaking publicly against the shootings in his town.
Dr. Waters hopes that his book can be an educational tool not only for people with mental illness but also for law enforcement authorities in order to change how they deal with people with mental health issues.
