Author Spotlight: Gail Gillingham, author of “In Search Of Self”

Gail Gillingham, author of In Search Of Self: A Personal Journey To Understanding And Acceptance, is a psychologist and a Quantum Biofeedback Therapist.
She owns and operates the Autism Consulting Service, which has been providing services to individuals, families, schools and organizations involved with autism since 1991.
Gail earned her Masters of Science degree in Individual, Family and Marital Counseling from Loma Linda University, California. A certified biofeedback therapist, she also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Alberta. She started working in the field of autism in 1988 as a group home supervisor.
The author recalls her frustration with how individuals react to autism without understanding why they were reacting like they were. Listening to the professionals proved to be of no help, so she shifted her focus to listening to those who have autism. This led her to understanding autism in a completely new and different way and developing methods of care that were based on the real needs of those on the spectrum, instead of what we are looking at from the outside.
Gail has published three books on her methods. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Autism National Committee and edited their newsletter, The Communicator, for three years. Gail’s husband, Clayton Wylie, helps with sales and workshops. He is also currently a biofeedback therapist.
