Dr. Armondo Collins’ book, “The Bruz”, a must-read that hits the reader’s core while still being entertaining, is now available for purchase
The Bruz, a work by Dr. Armondo Collins, was released in partnership with Author Reputation Press. The book ushers readers through the process of recognizing many things that we overlook when we are in the moment. It gives thoughts that deconstruct the conventional notion of belonging to or being a part of a group with objectives that many people don’t understand.
The Bruz’s author is a Greensboro, North Carolina-based writer, and African American studies academic. He earned his Ph.D. in English Rhetoric and Composition with a focus on African American and African Diaspora studies. He is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, as well as the Department Head of The Digital Media Commons in Jackson Library. The Media Assault on the Black Male, which was recently included in The Handbook of Research on Black Males, is one of his scholarly works (Michigan State University Press, 2019).
The Bruz is Aiden “Fierce” Chance. A hazing event turns his existence as a fraternity adviser at a small southern HBCU upside down, quickly transforming him from an intellectual golden boy to a campus disgrace. Aiden is repeatedly redeemed by the fraternity’s friendship relationships, but his last redemption threatens to strain his fraternal ties to the breaking point. Will they be able to withstand the pressure?
