AR Press is honored to publish “Li-emba: The Community Destroyer” by Martin Moluwa Matute. This book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARPress website.
The author, Martin Moluwa Matute, was born in Buea, Cameroon. He is currently a professor of biology and an academic administrator with the University of Arkansas System. He lives in Arkansas with his wife, Princess Mariana Mojoko (nee Endeley), and their children Mavita, Malingo, and Moname. Though not trained in the creative arts, Martin Moluwa Matute has always been attracted to novel reading. His contribution to the literary world brings story telling packaged in drama, action, and humor, a combination that makes for captive and pleasurable reading. The author takes natural events and glues them intricately into a seamless entertaining story with a subtle message all the way.
“Li-emba: The Community Destroyer” is a combination of events turned into stories all with the same central theme. A theme of destruction, a theme that challenges the very foundation of a society, and a theme and events that bring about the irreparable damage of a community. The community destroyer is a myopic shadow chaser, and its manipulators, the “nganga,” look on with “full-empty” pockets while their clients destroy the community. Darkness in a community is not partial but rather total.
It explains anything and everything, and it solves nothing and nothing at all. Along with its brother, Nyongo, Li-emba is a community destroyer that has wreaked havoc in communities both rural and urban, a discord exploited by the Nga-nga (Yoworite) business enterprise, living off people who are bent on chasing the shadows of their compatriots.
The Nga-nga entrepreneur must ensure the maintenance of the Li-emba-Nyongo status quo to continue to reap the economic benefits, while the victims of Li-emba continue the search of what seems like an illusionary and an endless search for solutions to their problems.
