“Wisdom Betrayed” by Don Clifford is displayed at the 2024 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference

The American Library Association (ALA) is the foremost national organization providing resources to inspire library and information professionals to transform their communities through essential programs and services. For more than 140 years, the ALA has been the trusted voice for academic, public, school, government, and special libraries, advocating for the profession and the library’s role in enhancing learning and ensuring access to information for all.

More than 13,500 attendees gathered in San Diego, CA, for the largest library event in the world. The ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition took place at the San Diego Convention Center from June 28 to July 2. Total attendance was 13,532, with 8,439 of them being attendees and 5,093 being exhibitors, authors, illustrators, press, and staff.

Against a backdrop of increasing censorship and book challenges, library workers learned from each other and supported each other through the 175 educational programs throughout the conference.

The conference opened with Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning host Trevor Noah and ALA Past President Lessa Kanani’opua Peyalo-Lozada in conversation discussing Noah’s upcoming book, “Into the Uncut Grass.”

ALA and Unite Against Book Bans hosted a second Rally for the Right to Read, which spotlighted the courage and resilience of library workers who are protecting the freedom to read.

ALA is now preparing for LibLearnX 2025, which will be held Jan. 24-27 in Phoenix. Next year’s ALA Annual will take place in Philadelphia.

Author Reputation Press’ published book, written by Don Clifford, was displayed at the 2024 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference from June 28 to July 2. The publisher and author of the book are honored and proud to be part of this annual conference.

Author Don Clifford has led adult Bible studies for over 50 years, many of them team teaching with his wife, Karen. The couple also teamed up in writing about their experience as lifelong Christians whose marriage and faith survived the loss of three of their living children.

Don authored Grace Enough for Three, Losing Three Children but Finding God’s All-Sufficient Grace. The couple co-authored Heavenly Grief, a Guide to Spiritual and Emotional Healing.

Their two living daughters have blessed them with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Karen died of Parkinson’s Disease in 2020.

Don had a rewarding career as a physicist and aerospace engineer. He specialized in studies of atmospheric electricity and its effects on aircraft. He worked with NASA and the Defense Department, leading groups that designed lightning protective measures for the Space Shuttle and several military aircraft.

After his retirement, Don and Karen traveled extensively, leading mission tours in Europe and South America. Don is president of Agape Communications and the owner and operator of Christian radio station KSGL in Wichita, Kansas. Don served on the Executive Board of the Missouri Baptist Convention. He now lives in Missouri and leads Bible studies at the First Baptist Church in St. Charles. He would be happy to hear from readers of Wisdom Betrayed.

“Wisdom Betrayed” by Don Clifford is a compelling novel that delves behind the scenes into the backstories of the characters at the center of the David and Bathsheba saga. Utilizing biblical accounts and weaving them throughout the narrative, the author expands upon Scripture to get into the hearts and minds of David, Bathsheba, and other important characters in the complete story.

Despite the popularity of the saga, most people do not realize there is a fascinating mystery in this story, a mystery that we must solve before we can see the full picture of what happened and why. The clues are there in obscure passages, waiting to be discovered and interpreted.

The book takes readers along for a ride through turbulent events that unfold in this intersection of lives as a result of one man’s decisions—events that end in tragedy for some and redemption for others. Here’s a hint: David knew Bathsheba’s family before he summoned her to his bed. Her grandfather was David’s personal counselor and advisor. His name is Ahithophel the Gilonite. The man behind the throne.

If you are ready to experience this classic story as never before, this book is for you. Head back in history to see what happens when wisdom is betrayed.
