Author Spotlight: Dr. Ira Williams, author of “Find the Black Box: Prevent Needless Hospital Deaths”
Dr. Ira Williams, author of Find the Black Box: Prevent Needless Hospital Deaths, has served for five decades as a board certified oral surgeon and for more than twenty years as a USAF major and senior navigator/bombardier.
Dr. Williams is also a maxillofacial surgeon and anesthesiologist. He is an experienced medical malpractice expert witness (initially as second surgeon multiple times) and medical peer review participant, hospital executive committee member, and state surgical specialty society president.
He is also published in several professional journals and performed 35 autopsies during surgical residency. His military and private aviation background plus major surgical experience enables him to demonstrate how to apply the safety efforts of the commercial aviation system more fully into the medical staffs of every hospital, something long talked about, but thus far never achieved.
At present, Dr. Williams owns a healthcare consulting firm that was founded in 2004. He is also a private pilot and lives in Greenville, South Carolina.
