Charles Campise ruminates on his literary influences and the idea behind his book “Adventures Of A Rideshare Driver”
Charles Campise’s book, Adventures Of A Rideshare Driver, presents detailed, insightful accounts of his brief encounters with clients who were satisfied with his service as a rideshare driver.
The author now shares some of his literary influences that helped mold his writing style as well as his inspiration for writing the book. It chronicles his favorite experiences ferrying passengers who like to use ride-sharing to get to their offices or to their personal destinations.
Campise, who completed more than three thousand trips in Austin, Texas as a rideshare driver, reveals a sentimental memoir of his work.
“I put a notebook in my car during the second year of my driving for rideshare companies. This was my wife’s idea,” Campise said. “She suggested that I would eventually have an interesting diary from this notebook, in which passengers could tell of themselves, their trips and their personal interests.”
The accounts contained in his memoir focus on his experiences in and around Austin beginning in June 2014. At times, he would regale his passengers with the history of the region.
In addition, Campise also shared how existing books influenced his writing career. He said: “I do a lot of reading for pleasure. I have read many styles. I especially am fond of funny stories. My book is modeled on some of those books and stories.”
