“It Takes Courage” by Samuel Lora shares life’s injustices as a blessing in disguise that may equip and embolden us to fight the good fight

Samuel Lora has published his book, It Takes Courage, which reminds the readers that no matter what happens, we should choose courage above all else.

How do we choose courage if life feels cluttered, complicated, or chaotic? How do we engage in the fight, and who is the fight against? The world’s problems are becoming increasingly complex. The relentless flow of life, with its hustle and stress, can deplete our strength, leaving us weak and exhausted. So, how can we rise to the circumstances and live a fearless and courageous life? Do we pursue how to live in God’s strength, not our own, and realize what a difference that makes? How can we find true peace in chaos, whether wrestling with a restless mind or living in a restless world?

A godless culture, a fierce foe, and our own fallen natures are all exerting increasing pressure on us. We cannot, however, give in to these very real challenges. Do we look at tactics for surviving—and even flourishing—in a world that will question, misinterpret, and even assault our hope? God prepares us to face any temptation, personal challenge, or rising tiredness. At times, the world can seem like it is full of uncertainty, anxiety, and fear. As humans, we are never really in control of our circumstances. Amidst all this uncertainty, how can we, the courageous ones, find the courage to not give up and press on boldly?

It Takes Courage by Samuel Lora highlights the fact that “It does not matter what negative things happen in life. People will put you down, knock you off track, or tell you you’re not good enough. You just need to keep applying what you know and never give up.” Courage comes when we are connected. Endurance comes when we are connected. Courage is not developed overnight. Courage training is a compilation of daily decisions to follow and pursue what is meant for you with all of your heart.

We have the option of walking with courage, but we are often gripped by fear and timidity. We may feel like we don’t have what it takes to be courageous, but what if courage looks different than we think? Courage isn’t always taking huge leaps of faith—it starts with taking baby steps into the unknown.
