“Two Souls” by David Davila receives praise from the US Review of Books, stating that “readers will find themselves engrossed in this smart, entertaining action novel with the ultimate confrontation between good and evil”

David Davila, the author of “Two Souls,” was born in Austin, Texas, and served in the United States Marine Corps for six and a half years. He moved to Portland, Oregon, with his wife, Rosalee, after leaving the Marine Corps, where he worked for the Postal Service and penned his first novel, “Two Souls“. Returning to Austin, Texas, he worked for the US Postal Service for the final fifteen years of his career.

Local folklore is frequently rejected as children’s tales. The elders recall a legend of a man who was turned into a formidable monster by strange rites and a holy artifact. Two Souls is his name. Legend has it that whoever finds the relic will be the evil spirit’s portal back to our realm. However, a small community in the Southwest is suffering from strange and awful killings right now. As the deaths pile up and a terrible pall suffocates the population, the village is thrown into chaos. Law enforcement officials are under a lot of pressure to find a serial killer. The objective becomes centered on how to destroy it as they realize they are not dealing with a human.

Bobby and Pete grew up in the same neighborhood. Their lives are intertwined in ways they never expected. One is battling an invisible force inside him that makes him want to commit unspeakable atrocities, while the other is fighting to keep the town safe. The latter is losing the war.

Here’s an excerpt from the review written by the US Review of Books’ Gretchen Hansen that underlines:

“Davila delivers a highly charged, exciting adventure in this novel. His narrative is intelligent and multilayered. The characters are vividly described and continue to develop as the story progresses. The dialogue is written in a realistic way that reflects each character’s personality. The author’s use of contrary concepts, such as ancient lore and its place in modern society, provides depth and texture to the story. Readers will find themselves engrossed in this smart, entertaining action novel with the ultimate confrontation between good and evil.”
