Benji Cole of CBS Radio interviews Gloria J. Lewis, the author of “Mystery at Higby Ranch”

Benji Cole of CBS Radio speaks with Gloria J. Lewis, the author of “Mystery at Higby Ranch” and a teacher-always-by-heart. They explore both the theme of the book and the author’s motivations for writing it.

Gloria J. Lewis, the book’s author, is a former educator. She went to the Midwest and majored in English at Northwest Missouri State University. She had a variety of opportunities for literature courses. She was motivated to enroll in writing classes by the exposure she received. She was an English teacher. In the interview, she discusses how much she misses the school, the kids, and all the literature she always wanted to read but never had the chance to. Between reading and writing, she came up with her first book, “Mystery at Higby Ranch”.

She had 3-5 children’s books per month in the kiddy lit class she took in college in which she studied children’s literature. Her interest was sparked by that, and she discovered several resources for young adults. Having a book geared to their level.

When she was ten years old, she went to see her family in England. One day, though, she was a little bored and had nothing to do. One of the novels supplied by one of her cousins was A Hardy Boys Mystery. The first book she ever read was A Hardy Boys Mystery. She fell in love with reading as a result. She then moved on to another mystery book after another.

The main character of the book “Mystery at Higby Ranch” just moved to the ranch with her father. She tries to get her father after discovering a dead body in one of the property’s pump houses, but when he arrives, the body has vanished. And that marks the start of the entire narrative.

With friends’ assistance, the main character starts to try to piece together where the body went. Strange things are happening on the ranch and in the neighborhood. Some things are a little challenging to explain, but they persist. It will be intriguing for readers to learn how they solved all the puzzles around the ranch itself.
