A short teaser to give the readers a glimpse of the story:
“To the right, in the pale blue house, lived the Stetsons with their three small girls who often dressed alike and a brown and white terrier who never stopped barking. The Davenports lived in the brick house with pink trim across the street. Josh’s family was close to the Davenports. His parents would go to their house for a weekly card game and Mrs. Davenport would babysit when Josh’s parents wanted a date night. In the pale purple house to the left lived the Jaspers who were currently on vacation with two teenage children. Lastly, the Martins lived in the pale green house right behind them.
The second block was a dead-end street. At the end was the strangest house Josh had ever seen. It had a high-pitched roof and wrought iron bars on all the windows. Dark curtains hung to block out the sun and the neighbors. But the strangest feature of all was that the house was painted BLACK which seemed so out-of-place with the surrounding colors.
This strange and mysterious house used to belong to a couple named Foxx. They had lived in the neighborhood for over thirty years. The Foxx’s never had any children. They had both passed away.“
