“From the lives of these women, we glean lessons in love and hate, victory and defeat, grief and gladness, courage and fear, and faith and forgiveness We see a progression in opportunities-from women being allowed to say very little in the beginning, to being able to make major decisions in the end.”
– Verneva Goss White
A strong woman can stand on her own just like Verneva Goss White, a mother of three children, a grandmother of eight, and the wife of Charles Ray White. She and her husband operate their own business in East Texas. Verneva aims and desires to spread the Gospel through writing, and that is how she was able to write a compilation of names of women from the Bible.
Through reading and understanding the sixty-six books of the Bible for years, she got the inspiration to write a compilation of the names of 100 women from the Bible. Through this book, she wanted to convey the life of each woman she’d chosen, starting with Eve, who was the first woman and the mother of all living things. The woman is known as Adam’s wife, the mother of Cain, Abel, and Seth, and the woman who brought sin into the world. To Mary, who’s introduced in the New Testament as the brave Mother of Christ and who presented the world with a Savior.
Her book is mainly focused on the names of the women in the Bible, showcasing positions held by the influence of and contributions made by women in biblical times wherein the strong dominance of men was established. Women in biblical times were considered weak and weren’t allowed to be part of the decision-making process. However, as she dug deeper, she discovered that there were some who were courageous, bold, and daring; women of influence; virtuous; and women who were strong in faith and mighty in prayer. These are women who outshine despite their weaknesses and cultural circumstances. They prove that they are strong in their own ways, as they also prove they are unique.
Ms. Verneva’s purpose for this book is not just to show words that define women in old times or to make their names flowery, as some of them were seen from a negative perspective by many. She wanted to educate, inspire, and impart life lessons. Unbiased, she revealed all the good, the bad, and the indifference of these characters.
She hoped that she’d give a new perspective on the listed names, so she took the risk of spreading her knowledge and understanding of them. Everyone has stunning beauty, whether she is strong or weak, what color or size she is, and everyone has their own distinct features that stand out.
A crown can be worn despite gender. A woman can also rule and make decisions for the good of everyone else, for the better of themselves. They may seem weak but take it from a lioness who controls the social structure and hunting of the pack. That implies they are also uniquely strong. Each has a different level of strength.
