“Finding Me: Finding Yourself When Half of You is Missing” by Vickie Tingwald is now available for purchase
“Often the first attempt to conquer your grief is to keep busy. You think that the busyness will distract your aching heart. You soon find out that nothing can fill the void or comfort you. In those first few days after your loss, you are in shock and cannot think beyond your next breath.”
– Vickie Tingwald
Author Reputation Press is honored to release a hope-filled book, “Finding Me: Finding Yourself When Half of You is Missing” by Vickie Tingwald. This is dedicated to all the widows who feel as if they have lost a piece of themselves with their husband’s death, as well as those who are seeking peace and longing for a reprieve from their aching hearts.
The author’s prayer is that this book will bring you comfort and help you know you are not alone. Also, it is for the wives and husbands who are doing their best to discover who they are without their spouse and best friend. The book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARP website.
Author Vickie Tingwald was born in Missouri and raised in Iowa. She is a widow, a mother, and a grandmother. She and her husband, Gary, lived in Iowa for more than 25 years and then moved their family to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1991 to attend a church there.
She has been a widow since 2018 when her husband Gary passed away after a seven-year battle with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Vickie is the mother of four and grandmother of seven. She is a retired Assemblies of God US Missionary and Children’s Pastor. Her husband was also a US Missionary and Chaplain with the Assemblies of God.
Vickie and her husband did a number of mission trips, and their family has built two churches, one in Haiti and another in Pakistan. “Finding Me: Finding Yourself When Half of You is Missing” is one of three books Vickie has authored. Her other books include Finding Joy in the Journey and Daily Encounters With God. Vickie enjoys time with her family, writing, traveling, and doing volunteer work with the local ALS Chapter. Her writing comes from a genuine heart of compassion. Her greatest joy is to share her real-life situations to help her readers with the life skills to cope with whatever comes their way.
“Finding Me: Finding Yourself When Half of You is Missing” chronicles the author’s journey of grief after losing her husband of 50 years. Vickie found herself alone for the first time in her life, without a clear sense of who she was as an individual or how she would cope without Gary at her side.
Her journey was difficult after sharing so many years with him. With Gary, she was strong, but without him, simple daily tasks seemed overwhelming. She realized that she had lost half of her identity in the loss of her husband, Gary.
Leaning on the memories of a happy marriage and remembering the goodness of God, she found the strength and will to move forward and discover her own identity. She learned to recognize and deal with the recurring waves of grief. “You never get over the loss, but you can get through it somehow,” she affirms.
Her experience leads down the path to peace and fulfillment for those who find themselves traveling alone. At the age of 70, Vickie found that God was not finished with her yet and had an exciting plan for the next chapter of her life.
This book will take you through the process of grief and help you find out who you are when half of you is missing. There is hope in every chapter of life. Finding that hope is what this book is about. The author’s prayer is that reading this book will ignite joy in the “YOU” that is left and help readers discover the best is yet to come.
