Benji Cole of CBS Radio interviews Dessie Williams, the author of “His Wonders to Perform: Mama, Daddy, and my cousin Robert Battle”
Dessie Williams, a spirit-filled author of an inspiring memoir, “His Wonders to Perform: Mama, Daddy, and My Cousin Robert Battle”, is interviewed by CBS Radio’s Benji Cole. Listen to the interview and gain meaningful insight and learn about what the author and her story could offer.
Dessie Williams is the daughter of Anna and Willie and was born in 1935 on the 4th of April, which she’s glad of, and not on the 1st. They were poor, but she had a hard-working father. Her parents were married for forty-five (45) years. She’s grateful to her parents for instilling in them the great essence of the need for education. Dessie loved literature, and back then she was a teacher for a number of years.
God intended for individuals to be in families where they would take care of, be there for, and connect with one another. Family isn’t always limited to blood kin. Furthermore, God often brought unexpected individuals together in the Bible in the most beautiful of connections. Who can you find who will treat you like family?
“His Wonders to Perform: Mama, Daddy, and my cousin Robert Battle” tells the story of the author’s parents, Anna and Willie Horne, and her cousin, Robert Louis Battle, currently artistic director of America’s Cultural Ambassador to the World (The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater). But even more important than her cousin’s ascension to the top of the international dance world is the story of how God kept faith with their family and led them along their tumultuous way to places of rest and quiet where they came to know that “God” really does “move in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform”.
This book is a wonderful reminder that no matter how big the trials and tribulations are, they’re all part of His divine plan. Embrace life–live and learn from the experiences. They make us the people we are. Explore how God can help you and allow Him to perform His wonders.
