Make it happen: Reading on Christmas

Almost all people love Christmas. It is the season when people gather and spend time together. Some people spend their holidays eating dinner, going to church, or going to Times Square to celebrate. And then some prefer to stay at home, lie in bed, drink hot chocolate, and read books. There are a lot of ways to celebrate Christmas, and that depends on the person.

Do you read books? And why read books?

Reading exposes people to fresh ideas and other ways of thinking. It is an essential aspect of learning as it sharpens knowledge, stimulates imagination, and develops empathy. Reading is beneficial, especially for kids who are growing and discovering things. It strengthens the mind and improves concentration, understanding, vocabulary, and language. It teaches us lessons and experiences that are beyond our scope.

And in celebration of Christmas, as we celebrate it with our loved ones, let’s create a tradition that everyone can enjoy. “The more one knows, the more one can control events,” said Francis Bacon, 1st Viscount St Alban PC, also known as Lord Verulam. They say that a reader is dangerous because they get the majority of their knowledge from books. Reading is an aspect of learning where a reader may gain experience through the words read in a book, article, or any kind of narrative.

Let your bookish side thrive this season. Gather with your family and friends and read a book aloud. You can also play games with them, such as story charades. Reading does not just give you knowledge and confidence; it also brings you closer to your loved ones. Make it a tradition every Christmas to read something special to your special someone.

Reading is not just a hobby; it is an exercise for our minds. What we read is food for our brains.
