What distinguishes being kind from being nice? It’s simple to appear nice. On the inside, you might feel differently than you appear on the outside. It’s challenging to fake kindness, though. It is unselfish to be kind. Love is kindness. Sincere kindness is expensive. Kindness reflects Jesus. It represents Christlikeness in action. It demonstrates how His love has changed us. Our faith calls us to be like Christ, so we make an effort to be compassionate.
People are prone to developing the “looking-out-for-number-one” syndrome. People frequently prioritize themselves and their pleasure in today’s culture. This strategy aims to starve the “Me Monster” inside of us. We become more God-centered and less me-centered when we shift our minds away from ourselves and toward the One who is deserving of all the glory.
Sylvia Bruce describes herself as an uneducated hillbilly from Arkansas, though she lives in Oklahoma with her two children. Twice widowed, she attributes all she has in this world to God and His goodness, which allows her to spend her retirement visiting senior citizens in nursing homes and advocating for those with mental illness or struggling with addiction. Bruce and her children love their church and embrace God as the center of their universe.
