“You’re right. Think about all the fires in the old days. When our fathers started, they used to fight fires without any breathing apparatus and sometimes without any gear. And they had some really big fires!”

Author Reputation Press is honored to publish “Local Yokels” by Paul J. Krause. The book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARP website.
Paul J. Krause was born in Hartford, CT, and grew up in Farmington. He is a volunteer fire captain and a graduate of the University of Hartford with a BA in US History and a minor in Gender Studies. He was inspired to write Local Yokels after reading The French Revolution by Matt Stewart in an American Literature class at the university.
Paul is a Marine Corps veteran, having served from June 2005 to June 2009. He deployed twice with the 2D Battalion, 2D Marines—once in support of the global war on terrorism with the 26th MEU in 2007, and once to Iraq in 2008.
“Local Yokels” gives us a glimpse into the lives of our heroes who give their selfless services to the public. Someone who is dedicated to serving others in need and is prepared to put his life in danger is what a hero embodies.
The book shares about the close brotherhood of the fire service that is shown when Bootknife and the Local Yokels of Uville face the most challenging week of their lives. A weeklong stretch of structure fires has turned this into the busiest consecutive fire period in the department’s history.
To put out these fires and defend their neighbors’ properties while saving lives, Bootknife and his fellow firefighters will employ all of their training and expertise. Although rushing into danger becomes second nature to these “brothers in battle,” a partial collapse within one house fire will leave three of them struggling to survive.
