Benji Cole of CBS Radio interviews the author of the book “The Strongest Buck”, Thomas K. Deveraux
The author of the amazing book “The Strongest Buck”, Thomas K. Deveraux, was interviewed by Benji Cole of CBS Radio. They discussed the author’s motivation and message for writing the book.
Thomas K. Deveraux has been married to his wife, Marilyn, for forty years. They have two adopted children, a 31-year-old son and a 25-year-old daughter. He is a psychiatric or mental health social worker. He got his MSW degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980. He worked in mental health hospitals and clinics for the last 42 years, so he had a lot of opportunity to work with and get to know a lot of families and help people.
The book is influenced by Thomas’ grandfather, who loved western life. His grandfather was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He then moved to Montana to work on a horse ranch and fell in love with the horses. After his father died, he went back to Pennsylvania to help raise his younger siblings, but he never lost his love for horses and the western lifestyle.
Thomas also mentioned that one of his inspirations for writing the book was that many people encouraged him to write a book about his experiences as a mental health therapist. He also wants to write a book with human messages in it, and he has also found the West an exciting place.
Eager for adventure, Mark Madison leaves his brother and sister-in-law to maintain the family farm and strikes out for the wild West by working for a wagon master, who takes Mark under his wing. Thus, he begins Mark’s education about surviving in this new world so different from quiet farm life.
In “The Strongest Buck”, follow Mark as he faces the adventure he sought, embraces a different culture, makes friends, faces danger, makes enemies, finds love, and discovers where his home and heart truly lie.
