Dr. Bruce R. Kindig, the author of “Courage and Devotion,” is interviewed by CBS Radio’s Benji Cole. The interview is about the discussion of the message of the book as well as the author’s purpose for writing this masterpiece.
People of Distinction is one of the most extensive and wide-ranging radio shows in the United States, hosted by Benji Cole and Al Cole from CBS Radio. People of Distinction is the right fit for authors and readers to discover newly published books, mostly written by passionate and independent authors.
Dr. Bruce R. Kindig wrote this book with the purpose of keeping the historical narrative separate from the stories of the men. If the reader wants to know about an individual, there are sections within the chapters about the officers and enlisted men. It is the intention of this book to describe the battery’s place in the larger scheme of things.
The location of the battery at each battle is marked on the maps in this book. In each chapter, after the narrative, there are descriptions of the officers and what they were doing, followed by information about the enlisted men. At the end of the book, there are several appendices that present lists of men from various times. The names are listed chronologically first and then alphabetically.
The author, Dr. Bruce R. Kindig, is a retired teacher residing in Davenport, Iowa. He has taught various history classes in his forty-six-year career, spanning from junior high to community college. He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees in history from the University of Northern Iowa. As an accomplished author, he has received several book review awards.
