The US Review of Books (USRB) highly praised “Beyond the Breakpoint: How I Survived as a Young Widow and Returned to Joy” by Debbie Faris

Amanda Hanson of the US Review of Books reviewed and commended the inspirational book of Debbie Faris, “Beyond the Breakpoint: How I Survived as a Young Widow and Returned to Joy.”

The author, Debbie Faris, is a successful professional engineer, image consultant, and advertising content producer. Debbie also worked as Chief of Staff for the Dooner Group, a marketing consultancy firm. Continuing to give back to her community, she served as a trustee for the YMCA of the Palm Beaches and was the first woman to spearhead their annual fundraising campaign. Debbie is actively launching her healthy lemongrass beverage onto the market.

Debbie continues to play an active role in her three children’s lives. David is soon to graduate as a Mechanical Engineer from Cornell University, and Michael is pursuing a degree in finance at Boston College. Christian is in middle school and enjoying his role as the little Emperor, master of Debbie’s universe.

Debbie’s passion is helping people reach their full potential and advance after a life-changing event. She continues to focus on life coaching and bereavement ministry and is available upon request as an inspirational speaker.

“Beyond the Breakpoint: How I Survived as a Young Widow and Returned to Joy” is a deeply personal story where Debbie Faris reveals what it is like to be that woman: the one who lost it all. When her husband unexpectedly died, she was left to raise their three young sons. Bravely tackling life and forging ahead, her story of love, friendship, and purpose inspired a community and brings comfort to those who encounter addiction, loss, and death. Never could she imagine that in seeking normalcy, she would find peace and return to joy.

Faris describes her life with her late husband, Randy, in this memoir. They had been married for more than twenty years and had three sons. She and Randy were delighted, although there were some difficulties. Randy was struggling with both his drinking and his prescription drug addiction.

Faris was by his side the entire time and never lost hope in him. Then, out of nowhere, Randy began experiencing some health problems. His wife was frustrated since doctors were unable to determine what was wrong with him. Unfortunately, one day Randy passed away at their house from a heart attack while he was asleep. Faris was devastated by Randy’s sudden death because her husband had just come home from the hospital. She had to adjust to a new role as a single mother while grieving the unexpected passing of her life’s partner along this journey.

Here’s an excerpt from the US Review of Books that highlights:

“Faris dives deeply into her emotions and physical state at the time of her husband’s untimely death. She focuses on how her mind and body responded to this situation. Since her mind was affected by the loss of Randy, her body could not function. For instance, she could not sleep, drive, or move. Every simple task was difficult for her to do. Indeed, this loss prevented her from properly functioning. The author does not hold back on her emotions and feelings. Faris acknowledges there is a correlation between the mind and body. However, during this period of grief, she turned to God for help, and he did not disappoint. She was determined to get better for herself and her children. Through this experience, Faris grew closer to God. Readers will appreciate this book because of its message that one can overcome loss and pain thanks to the Lord.”
