“Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the hole served as the site of a mass burial. It is unknown at this time just how many bodies were uncovered in the crater, but it is estimated to be over thirty of Harlandville’s residents. All victims were found to have been slashed repeatedly to the point that they could not be recognized or identified outside of dental records; as well as one victim who was reported to have been cannibalized from the remains recovered…”

“Mortimer,” a page-turning read, presents the time in 1992 when young Mortimer Drake, age 11, had his first birthday party. After killing his parents and “making his first cake,” he is sentenced to psychiatric detention, only for him to escape in the night.
But in a year’s time following that fateful day, a new, and far more horrific, body count begins to rise. Except for “The Birthday Butcher,” who appears to kidnap at least 25-30 victims at a time, each of whom was found mutilated in various ways, no one knows who the slayer is.
For ten years, the deranged slasher’s reign of terror ravaged the town of Harlandville, New York. And each time, no one could ever find him or bring him to justice. Could he be stopped, and if so, will the city ever be the same?
