What is the significance of walking in obedience, and how does it enable us to respond in faith regardless of how we feel?

The world compels us to pursue our own desires. God, on the other hand, desires that His followers uphold a higher standard. The word “obedience” doesn’t always connote a positive thing. But that’s exactly what the Bible says it is. According to the Scriptures, obedience will lead to freedom and joy. Obedience brings blessings. It is essentially an illustration of a life lived in a relationship with God. When a person complies with specific orders from a superior, he is being obedient. It is one of the most significant actions that have an impact on everyone.

Carroll Morgan was born on October 25, 1939, in Crowley, Louisiana. He has twenty-four years of experience, from patrol officer to chief of police. He graduated from LSU Basic Training and graduated second in his class at the LSU Juvenile Officers Academy. He got 600 hours of LSU and FBI in-service training. He was the president of the Municipal Police Officers Association of Louisiana.

He’s one of the directors on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Chief of Police Association Legislative, Sick Leave, and Union Relations Committees. He’s a member of the LSU Law Enforcement Academy Advisory Board.

Mr. Morgan is an associate member of the American Academy of Forensic Science and the Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators. Moreover, he helped get full funding for the Police Supplemental Pay for Louisiana City Police and funding for the LSU Law Enforcement Institute.

For ten (10) years, he’s been the Louisiana Department of Corrections Officer. He also graduated from the Basic Academy for Correctional Officers at the Angola State Penitentiary. He was named Officer of the Month at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. He was the president of Louisiana Ready Group, a nonprofit group of missionaries and advocates for law enforcement, and president of Ready Louisiana, LLC, a house of worship security consulting company.

“When God Speaks, Obey!” is an inspirational book about obeying God when he speaks. When the Holy Spirit told the author that this was the last time he was going to be called to repent, the author obeyed and asked the Lord Jesus to come into his life and take control.

The Holy Spirit told the author that if the author would stay out of his way, the Holy Spirit “would make him Chief of Police of Jennings.” One and a half years later, the author was appointed Chief of Police in Jennings, Louisiana.

There are some serious things and there are some comical things in the author’s long career as a law enforcement officer and his journey from a professing Christian to a born-again Christian. They are all captured in this book.

Learning to be obedient is undoubtedly the key to success in the Christian life. It serves as the cornerstone for developing a stronger connection with God. And the fact that we can put our complete trust in Christ as our Savior is the cornerstone of our obedience to Him. He cares about us and desires the best for us.

The Lord has invited us to follow Him obediently, no matter what phase of life we are in. However, how can we obediently face change that is upsetting, unpleasant, exhilarating, or exhausting in the presence of the Lord?
