“Kirk’s Poetry” by Kirk Philipsen is now available for purchase

“I know I’m saved because I called upon His name

And through God’s word, I’m saved

The price has already been paid, through the blood of

the lamb

His gift to us is eternal life, and all we gotta do is call on His name.”

– an excerpt from the book

Author Reputation Press is delighted to announce the publication of “Kirk’s Poetry” by Kirk Philipsen. This is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARP website.

Kirk Philipsen was born and raised in Southern California. His family was close, and all of them loved to play music. They found out his mother had cancer in 1964. While he was in the Navy, at 19 years old, he was called home because his mom wasn’t doing well. His mother died in 1969 when she was 39 years old.

Kirk had three wonderful children from his first marriage. He was also blessed with three wonderful children from his second marriage. He worked as a foreman or a superintendent most of the years as a rebar ironworker.

In 1992, Christopher, his son from his second marriage, was having pains in his stomach. The doctors did further testing because of his blood cell count. They retested, and the results came back positive for leukemia and brain tumors. Christopher was 9 years old at that time.

After four years of medication, chemotherapy, and treatments, the doctors finally told them that he was already out of the woods. The family felt relief and joy after hearing the great news. Later on, the doctors informed Kirk that Christopher had relapsed and there was nothing they could do. After two months, Christopher passed away to be with the Lord at the age of 13.

During that same year, Kirk’s youngest daughter started losing her hair at the age of 9 years old. She was diagnosed with alopecia universalis and ended up losing all her hair, everywhere.

In 1992, while working, Kirk got hit in the head by a 500-pound commercial freezer door that fell. This left him disabled for a long time. After a few years, he had already adjusted to the situation, which led him to write this book.

“Kirk’s Poetry” is a compilation of poems about grief, loss, family, and religion. This is dedicated to the author’s son, who passed away due to leukemia and a brain tumor. This also contains Kirk’s Christian poems, which are now on his new CD, “Kirk In Spirit,” under his own company as a new record label called Blue Streets Records.

The pain of losing a loved one is unimaginable. We sometimes question God: “Why not someone else?” “Why does it have to be our loved one who has so much potential and has so much to see in this world?”

Deep in our hearts, we know that God has a reason for everything. We may not understand it now, but soon we will understand why He let us experience those struggles. God does not give us problems that we cannot handle. For He is always by our side, guiding and protecting us.
