“A Conceptual Circus” by Kenneth Jarrett Singleton was nominated for the 2023 Eric Hoffer Book Award

Every year, everyone has been waiting for the great news. And now, the results for the Eric Hoffer Book Award have been released.
Kenneth Jarrett Singleton’s “A Conceptual Circus,” published by Author Reputation Press, participated in the 2023 Eric Hoffer Book Award.
The Eric Hoffer Book Award commemorates the memory of the famous American philosopher Eric Hoffer by honoring outstanding writing and the independent spirit of small publishers. Since its foundation, Hoffer has grown to become one of the most prestigious worldwide book awards for small, academic, and independent presses.
The Eric Hoffer Book Award committee has completed its judging process for another year. Each person who participated and submitted their entry is appreciated. Thank you for your support. The award is facilitated by The Eric Hoffer Project, dedicated to maintaining Hoffer’s work and legacy.
This heartwarming patronage has helped make the Eric Hoffer Book Award one of the world’s premium independent book awards. Every book was carefully read and evaluated. Being part of this is such an honor and privilege for many.
Kenneth Jarrett Singleton’s inviting read, “A Conceptual Circus,” was featured in the November issue of The New York Times Book Review (NYTBR), a weekly paper magazine supplement to the Sunday edition of The New York Times (an American daily newspaper with a worldwide readership reported in 2020 to be a growing 6 million paid digital subscribers). It is one of the most well-known and significant book reviews in the business.
Moreover, Barbara Bamberger Scott of the US Review of Books commended this masterpiece, saying that “Singleton, who has written other poetic works along with plays and books, focuses in this latest aggregation on difference, discouragement, and the great distance and distress that can so often afflict one’s reality. He is never at a loss for words, some quite complex and a few invented, encompassing enjoyable rhymes. His powerful paean to “A Codependent Romance” reveals a scenario many may recognize—the frustrations and rewards of building a trusting relationship that ultimately, as he styles it, “could not have occurred in any greater form.” One suspects that Singleton’s works are meant to baffle and equally suggest solutions to many of life’s more distressing puzzles. He creates a circus constantly in motion, inviting readers to keep their perceptions in a heightened state so that nothing essential to life’s panorama will go unnoticed.”
A playwright, poet, and author, Kenneth Jarrett Singleton released five books before this collection of poems. His debut book, The Cadaver Factory, was a science fiction/horror book. When he was twenty years old, it was published in 2004. His debut play, Angelica and Francesca, and his second book, The Donner Society, were both released in 2005.
The author was also interviewed by Benji Cole of CBS Radio. The author gives an introduction and explains what motivated him to write and publish this book.
