Before joining the World Bank, Wilfred Candler taught agricultural economics at Massey University in New Zealand and Purdue University in the United States. He worked as a World Bank evaluation officer for several decades, evaluating and assessing the worldwide impact of investment projects. In his retirement, he focused on the growth of fossil fuels and their huge influence on driving economic progress.

Wilfred Candler wrote the book “Global Warming: The Problem” with the goal of sharing his concern that the problems of climate change are vastly more complicated than we had any idea before. It is no longer a simple problem of using fossil fuels.

We are still rapidly exhausting the world’s supply of a wide range of non-renewable natural resources, as pointed out by Christopher Clugston. Moreover, fossil fuel companies are actively promoting the continued use of fossil fuels and even supporting environmental groups, provided their objection to fossil fuels extends to nuclear. The population of the world is now almost eight times the level before our use of non-renewable resources, and per capita consumption is a thousand times what it was more than a century ago.

A Hollywood movie script was written for the book “Global Warming: The Problem” for the book’s qualification for a movie adaptation. The script acts as a guide for producers, directors, actors, and production teams working on the film from start to finish, and it serves as a blueprint for what will be shown on the big screen.
