“Local Yokels” by Paul J. Krause was among the books displayed by Author Reputation Press during the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2023 at the University of Southern California on April 22-23, 2023. This book is about the heroic lives of our heroes, who give their selfless services to the public.
The much-anticipated annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2023 was held on April 22–23, 2023. It was attended by nearly 500 authors and hundreds of exhibitors. The festival was launched to connect individuals who read books with those who write them. The range of book genres exhibited at the festival captivated readers of all ages. Author Reputation Press is committed to connecting readers and authors through books. ARP participated in the book gallery organized by LATFOB. In line with this, ARP exhibited some of its spectacular books to the festival audience. The wide selection of genres made the gallery more enticing.
Paul J. Krause was born in Hartford, CT, and grew up in Farmington. He is a volunteer fire captain and a graduate of the University of Hartford with a BA in US History and a minor in Gender Studies. He was inspired to write Local Yokels after reading The French Revolution by Matt Stewart in an American Literature class at the university.
Paul is a Marine Corps veteran, having served from June 2005 to June 2009. He deployed twice with the 2D Battalion, 2D Marines—once in support of the global war on terrorism with the 26th MEU in 2007, and once to Iraq in 2008.
“Local Yokels” presents the close brotherhood of the fire service as shown when Bootknife and the Local Yokels of Uville face the most challenging week of their lives. A weeklong stretch of structure fires has turned this into the busiest consecutive fire period in the department’s history.
Bootknife and his fellow firefighters will use all of their skills to battle these blazes, saving lives and protecting their neighbors’ properties. Although rushing into danger becomes second nature to these “brothers in battle,” a partial collapse within one house fire will leave three of them struggling to survive.
