John Stoeffler attended Pennsylvania Military College and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. As a (commissioned) 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, Stoeffler spent one year of his two-year active duty in Korea. After active duty, he went to work for General Electric and worked on projects in his community, creating “Kids Who Care”, a program that encouraged children to collect toys, food, and clothing for those in need. After decades as a salesman, he retired in 2003 and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, in 2016.
“Lexie’s Gift” presents the story of Lexie, a little girl whose closest friend’s father serves in the Army and gets summoned to active service. Susan, the friend, is upset because her father will miss her birthday and Christmas and will not be there to embrace, kiss, and tuck her into bed. Lexie thinks she could do something to make Susan feel better while her father is away from home.
Lexie, with a little assistance, creates the ideal gift for Susan: a pillow with her father’s photo printed on it. Susan is overjoyed, and the girls have decided to make additional image pillows for people like her, discovering that it is more enjoyable to give than to receive.
This story is based on a project started in 2008 by the author and his wife. In all, they and their volunteers made and shipped free what they called “Sweet Dreams Pillows” to over 13,000 children of deployed members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
A movie script coverage for the book “Lexie’s Gift” has been prepared for the book’s qualification for a Hollywood movie adaptation. The screenplay is the common ground on which producers, directors, actors, and production teams working on the movie will collaborate from start to finish and serves as a roadmap for them in terms of what will be seen on the big screen. The production of the Movie Script coverage is to prepare for the screenplay to be produced.
