CBS Radio’s Benji Cole interviews Nadenia Buntin, the author of “The Big Game”

Nadenia Buntin, the author of “The Big Game,” was interviewed by CBS Radio’s Benji Cole. The interview is about the discussion of the message of the book as well as the author’s purpose for writing this masterpiece.

People of Distinction is one of the most wide-ranging radio shows in the United States, hosted by Benji Cole and Al Cole from CBS Radio. People of Distinction is the right fit for authors and readers to discover newly published books, mostly written by passionate and independent authors.

Benji Cole, the host of the program, is a world-class interviewer, video formulator, Los Angeles actor, and filmmaker. He’s shared the acting stage with superstar Tom Hanks.

“The Big Game” by Nadenia Buntin is commended by Kat Kennedy of the US Review of Books, who highlights that “most of the action comes in descriptive passages concerning Josh’s little league team. Josh is a great role model for young adult and middle school readers. His sense of integrity is an endearing character trait. And even though Josh breaks a promise to his father, he still tries to do the right thing no matter how painful. Josh owns up to his father about his bad decision, and he is shocked by his dad’s reaction, “I’m proud of you for trying to do the right thing. I’m sorry Mr. Willingham would not listen to you.” Josh’s father also displays a sense of integrity and empathy. With its likable moral characters, exciting descriptions of baseball games, and a redeeming ending, this book should be an enjoyable read for older kids especially but also for readers of all ages.”

Nadenia Buntin was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. She moved to Mississippi in 1980. She attended Dela State University, where she received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. She has fifteen years of teaching experience. She has two grown daughters and five grandchildren.

“The Big Game” was nominated for the 2023 Eric Hoffer Book Award, which commemorates the memory of the famous American philosopher Eric Hoffer by honoring outstanding writing and the independent spirit of small publishers. Since its foundation, Hoffer has grown to become one of the most prestigious worldwide book awards for small, academic, and independent presses.

Recently, this masterpiece was among the books displayed by Author Reputation Press during the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2023 at the University of Southern California on April 22–23, 2023. This story is about ten-year-old Josh Winters and his cousin, Clint Daniels, who helped lead their team to victory at the Little League World Series.

In “The Big Game” by Nadenia Buntin, nine-year-old Josh Winters is excited to move close to his cousin Clint and play for the Titans—a little league team. Josh is getting comfortable with his new place, but one house in the community is not enamored with children. Josh makes a mistake and is forced to approach the house and knock on the door. What he learns will change both of their lives.
