Logan Crawford of Spotlight TV interviews Kristin Abello, the author of “Sunrise: Life After Traumatic Brain Injury”
Spotlight TV’s Logan Crawford interviews Kristin Abello, the author of the published book “Sunrise: Life After Traumatic Brain Injury,” about her healing journey after surviving TBI—an empowering true story. The interview gives the readers an opportunity to get to know the insightful and inspiring author of this masterpiece.
The host of the program, Logan Crawford, is an actor and Emmy award-winning anchor, reporter, talk show host, and actor with recurring roles on such hit TV shows as Blue Bloods, The Blacklist, House of Cards, Person of Interest, and The First Purge.
The author, Kristin Abello, has worked both at Halliburton and Texas Children’s Hospital as an exercise specialist. She also serves on the board of The Institute of Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) and advocates for patients with neurological and brain trauma.
Moreover, she is the founder of “Two-Step with TIRR” and “Go Western” and a philanthropist. The author engages in running, walking, and yoga and enjoys the outdoors. She loves to travel and is always up for an adventure. She and her husband, Raul, have two sons, Jacob and Colin, and live in Houston, Texas, with their Golden Retrievers, Max and Lucy.
In 2002, while on a training run in Houston, Texas, with her husband, Raul, in preparation for the Marine Corps Marathon, author Kristin Abello was struck by a car. As a result, she sustained a traumatic brain injury and other physical injuries. The initial consensus was that she wasn’t going to survive.
This poignant and life-changing book, “Sunrise: Life After Traumatic Brain Injury,” was featured in the November issue of The New York Times Book Review (NYTBR), a weekly paper magazine supplement to the Sunday edition of The New York Times (an American daily newspaper with a worldwide readership reported in 2020 to be a growing 6 million paid digital subscribers). It is one of the most well-known and significant book reviews in the business.
The author’s book is highly praised by Philip Zozzaro of the US Review of Books. It is highlighted as “an inspiring memoir where the author writes about a truly painful experience that nearly destroyed her life. The trauma of her accident and the harrowing days that followed left scars that lingered long past the darkness of that September day. Abello candidly reflects on her journey over the last two decades as her emotions run through a continual gauntlet, each accomplishment followed by a new challenge. The reader will not only be following on but rooting for her to succeed as the story nears its end. The author’s book is not merely a survival story but also a guide for emotional recovery from a near-death experience. Abello’s words will strike a chord with those who have experienced similar circumstances or know someone who has.”
