“Forgive Us Our King: Healing for Your Soul” by Cheryl Elaine Dowdell is preparing to hit the big screen by releasing its Hollywood Movie Treatment

Her spiritual journey began when she was eight years old, when she received Jesus Christ as her Savior at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She feels that Jesus has been with her on a regular basis and rejects the notion of a suffering existence. Sheryl has been hearing the Holy Spirit speak to her on a regular basis since July 2012, urging her to “feed His sheep” and expressing worry about the state of the world. She shares the Lord’s word with her Senior Pastor, recalling her first concerns when she first heard God’s voice in 2004.

Cheryl discovers in their family; seven of the nine siblings have different fathers. Later, she learns about the seven different fathers, and with her sisters’ help, she tries to locate her mother’s grave thirty years after her passing. Cheryl’s prays at her mother’s grace, seeking forgiveness for her mother’s sins and asking God to mend broken families.

She recounts the loss of her mother and subsequent abandonment by her father, recognizing the enemy’s role in keeping them in bondage. Cheryl thinks that everything in life is a part of her spiritual path, which is directed by the Holy Spirit. Cheryl discovers understanding and forgiveness while seeking answers from her grandmother and her father about their abandonment.

Reflecting on her youngest daughter’s tragic murder, Cheryl takes peace in the knowledge that God may still be glorified even in such heartbreaking circumstances. She emphasizes the significance of releasing hurt and pain through worship and praise, knowing that laughing may cause the release of endorphins, offering temporary relief.

She bravely shares her traumatic experiences of rape and molestation, which deeply affected her. Despite the discouragement and being told that school was note for her due to becoming a young mother at fourteen, Cheryl refuses to believe she is unintelligent and persist in pursuing her education.

Cheryl reflects on her own life, recognizing her unconventional parentage and the major effect of her mother’s death and her father’s unexpected reappearance years later. Cheryl’s journey covers early pregnancy and the formative effect of her grandma’s responses as she was raised by her dissatisfied grandmother. She challenges society’s perception of belonging by using her educational ambitions as an example of defying expectations and trusting in God’s faithfulness.
