“Jacob was watching the field, the rain splattering against his hat, and sure enough, a cold trickle of rain found its way down the back of his neck and between his shoulder blades. He gave an involuntary shiver as the cold hit him, hoping this rain would be to their advantage if the enemy was close by.”

He served in the United States Army, serving with the 2nd Ranger Battalion and the 10th Special Forces Group for twenty years. While in the service, he received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in World Military History and a Master’s of Art Degree in Military Studies: The American Revolution, both from the American Military University.

Nason lives with his wife Karin and daughter Samantha in Virginia.
Twenty years prior the Revolutionary War, America was engaged in a different war: one against the French and their Indian allies. “In the Presence of Wolves: The Adventures of Ranger Jacob Clarke” by Erick W. Nason is an action-packed historical narrative that presents the adventures of Ranger Jacob Clarke set in the lush upper forests of New York.
Company, fighting as green-clad wraiths in the thick northern forests and mountains of New York, attempting to stem the French tide as they poured through the Champlain Valley, their sights set on Albany.
Will the actions of the Rangers, alongside the Provincials and red-coated regulars of the British Army, be enough to stop the French and their Indian allies?
This book was also commended by Kat Kennedy of the US Review of Books, stating that, “The author does a wonderful job of getting into the mire and muck of war with attention to the nuances of eighteenth-century colonial life both on and off the field. The budding romance between Clarke and Maggie brings a needed break in the narrative, which mostly consists of the Rangers’ war adventures. The novel holds the reader’s attention from start to finish. Though the first in a series, this novel can be read as a standalone. Its fast-paced action should appeal to fans of American history and war strategy.”
