“God’s Purpose in Creation” by Vernon M. Carrigan, M.D., was displayed at the 2023 Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse) – Book Gallery
“God’s Purpose in Creation” by Vernon M. Carrigan, M.D., was among the books displayed by Author Reputation Press during the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 18–22, 2023.
He asked God why He has allowed such suffering in his people—the question asked by millions over the centuries of human history.
The Frankfurter Buchmesse, reportedly known as the world’s largest trade fair for books, opened its doors to participants around the globe, celebrating books and their authors. The massive book fair also celebrated its 75th anniversary this year. Slovenia, their guest of honor this year, presented itself as a nation with a rich literary history in addition to being a desirable tourism destination.
It is the best platform for publishers and authors to engage with international audiences and share stories. This year, over 105,000 trade visitors from 130 countries and 110,000 audiences participated in this big event. This year attracted more visitors compared to last year when there were 93,000 trade visitors and 87,000 audiences. Over 2,600 activities were covered by more than 7,000 media professionals during the five days of the exhibition.
Author Reputation Press is dedicated to promoting literary connections between authors and readers. In line with this, ARP displayed several of its remarkable books at the largest book trade fair in the world. The book gallery was even more alluring because of the large variety of genres on exhibit.
The author, Dr. Vernon M. Carrigan, is now a retired internal medicine physician who worked for 40 years as a physician and health care administrator in his hometown of Clarksville, TN. He became a Christian at age 13 and practiced Christian principles in his life and practice. He has been married twice, the second time after a tragic accident claimed the life of his first wife and has had two sons, the older of whom has also passed.
In retirement, he has enjoyed frequent international travel, including medical mission trips, reading, writing, golfing, photography, bridge, and spending time with his grandson. Dr. Carrigan was also the founder of Bethany House in Clarksville, which was a faith-based restorative program on his farm for drug-addicted women.
In his practice, Dr. Carrigan witnessed Christians suffer and die from ravaging and devastating diseases. As a historian, he was aware of the untold suffering humanity has endured, at times at its own hands and even at times in the name of God. He has personally suffered the deaths of his wife, son, and grandson, and the near deaths of his other son and himself in separate accidents.
In “God’s Purpose in Creation,” the author sets forth a theological explanation based on God’s ultimate plan and perfect will for his church and his permissive will at work in our lives today. The author has clearly made his case for the fact that God’s purpose for the Cosmos is to have a viable relationship with every person on Earth.
Dr. Carrigan reveals the concepts of good and evil and suffering based upon his own experience, as opposed to fashioning them from theory or mental exercise. It is easy to see that the stresses and strains of the author’s life have made him much stronger in his beliefs and actions. He knows God as his Creator, Jesus as his Savior, and the Holy Spirit as his indwelling guide for life.
