Author Stephen Finlay Archer lives in Northern California with his wife, Kathy. He creates Irish historical fiction that explores Ireland’s heroic, difficult, and magical history. Stephen chose the budding profession of aerospace engineering in the 1960s and went on to handle the design, construction, and testing of communications satellites in Canada. He moved to California in 1983 to work for the Hughes Space and Communications Company.
He is a member of Writers Unlimited in California, Goldrush Country, and the North American and Irish branches of the Historical Novel Society. Prior to his retirement, he was an aerospace manager, directing large-scale, delivery-in-orbit satellite systems for the U.S. Navy and NASA/NOAA.
Stephen Finlay Archer writes Irish historical fiction. His latest seven-book series, The Irish Clans, covers the Irish revolutionary period from 1915 to 1923. This Irish family saga, full of swashbuckling characters and page-turning action, tells the true story of Ireland’s conflict with England.
He was interviewed by Spotlight TV’s Logan Crawford. The interview allows the audience to have a glimpse of the author’s journey in exploring Southern European cuisine and culture.

The infusion of Irish mythology and history allowed the reader to learn and delve into this rich culture and the events which defined this land. Yet amongst these grand stories, the personal aspects of these characters are brilliantly illustrated through powerful imagery in the author’s writing style. The complexities of Collin’s journey as he works to fulfill his promises to his wife while also working to learn of his sister’s fate, only to discover his sister’s fate is more complex than he could have possibly imagined, made this story not only more grounded, but emotionally engaging as well.
This is the perfect read for those who enjoy historical fiction, especially those who enjoy historical fiction set against the backdrop of war, and stories which explore Irish history, culture, and mythology all in one book. The look into the past of these Irish Clans and the way history has been defined by blood and bonds throughout the ages was remarkable to read, and the tension and atmosphere that were layered into the story allowed me to get lost in this story quite easily.
