Enjoy Spring with a Great Book: “The Pie, The Pie, and Oh That Smell!” by Connie Smith

Without the vital showers that herald the arrival of spring, what would spring be like? Give someone a one-sitting-read book that will make them feel better. “The Pie, The Pie, and Oh That Smell!” by Connie Smith is a children’s picture book that teaches children the importance of showing their appreciation for the wonderful things their parents do every day—and the fun of pitching in and helping out! Kids, for sure, would love this book while enjoying spring.

Although we appreciate every season, we are excited for spring by the middle of February. No matter what season we are entering, we enjoy the pleasant habit of putting away the books from the previous one, pulling out the ones for this season, and maybe even buying a few more.

The snowman is finally melting, the recent cold spell seems to be ending, and a vase of daffodils is sitting in the kitchen window, basking in the light. This indicates that it’s time to carefully store our winter books and bring out the ones that have been patiently waiting for spring.

There are a few joys, like getting a blanket, filling a bottle or container, and taking a book outside once the sun truly begins to warm the air instead of just menacing it. Naturally, reading in the springtime is as enjoyable as doing so while sitting by a window on a chilly April day when it’s pouring rain and you can’t go for a walk. Yes, reading feels right for all seasons, but there’s also a sense of matching the appropriate reading to the appropriate season.

“The Pie, The Pie, and Oh That Smell!” is a masterpiece that was highly praised by Michael Radon of the US Review of Books, who highlighted that “this book, with its large illustrations, colorful characters, and warm, inviting tone, not only shows kids how parents need and deserve gratitude for their efforts but also opens up the conversation about children pitching in on tasks that they may take an interest in when they are old enough to handle them.”

The book was featured in Publisher Weekly Magazine’s August 28, 2023, issue. The publication offers feature articles and news on all aspects of the book business and bestseller lists in a number of categories, but its best-known service is prepublication book reviews, of which it publishes nearly 9,000 per year.

This book was displayed at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 18–22, 2023. The said book fair is reportedly known as the world’s largest trade fair for books. It is the best platform for publishers and authors to engage with international audiences and share stories.

Additionally, this masterpiece was also displayed during the much-anticipated annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2023 that was held on April 22–23, 2023, at the University of Southern California. It was attended by nearly 500 authors and hundreds of exhibitors.
