“The Monkey Tree” by Michele Heeney is now available for purchase

“The small poet
Takes the fine pen
To probe delicate nerves
Of invisible emotion
Causing liquid tears
To evaporate
Into transparent air”
– an excerpt from the book
AR Press is honored to publish “The Monkey Tree” by Michele Heeney. This book is dedicated to all who dance with monkeys. The book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARPress website.
“The Monkey Tree” is Michele Heeney’s third book of poems and photographs. Michele has lived in Marin and Monterey counties, California, and Maui, Hawaii. Michele now lives and writes in New Mexico. Her house is on the Cochiti reservation, just south of Santa Fe, in the little town of Cochiti Lake.
Explore Michele Heeney’s depiction of The Monkey Tree’s recurrent themes through poetry and photography, including obsession, oppression, love, suffering, loss, and one’s own persistent self.
In Heeney’s exploration of emotion, humor, grief, reflection, anger, and curiosity access the extraordinary and mundane—the monkey on everyone’s back. Buddhist philosophy is reflected in the diverse viewpoints and bemused detachment that temper the primacy of the human ego. This short work involves the reader both as an observer and participant.
