2024 Los Angeles Festival of Books (LATFOB) Book Signing: “It Was Nevada” by Tony Lesperance

In partnership with Author Reputation Press, Tony Lesperance, author of “It Was Nevada,” held a successful book signing event during the 2024 Los Angeles Festival of Books (LATFOB) at the University of Southern California.

The Los Angeles Times held its much-awaited annual Festival of Books on April 20–21, 2024. Take in captivating exhibits, book readings, musical performances, and much more! Book lovers will find this festival to be an absolute paradise.

The LATFOB is considered to be one of the world’s most significant literary gatherings. It has been held every year since 1996 with the goal of bringing together the people who create books and the people who love to read them. It is attended by more than 550 authors, celebrities, storytellers, and hundreds of exhibitors.

The Los Angeles Times is the country’s biggest metropolitan daily newspaper, with more than 40 million unique latimes.com visitors monthly, a Sunday print readership of 1.6 million, and a combined print and online local weekly viewership of 4.4 million. The Pulitzer Prize-winning Times has been covering Southern California for more than 140 years.

Tony Lesperance was born and raised during the height of the Depression, but his father made sure that he would learn how to deal with his world. As a teenager, Tony was shipped to Nevada by his father to work on a ranch to give him direction in life. His teenage diversion turned into a lifelong love for Nevada, particularly Nevada ranching and farming.

It Was Nevada” introduces the audience to the state’s most prominent industry in the past and recounts its battle for survival as Nevada transitions from the most rural to the most urban state in the country.

This masterpiece was reviewed and commended by Alyssa Avina of the Hollywood Book Reviews, highlighting that “The author did an incredible job of balancing out the more informative and historical aspects of the overall narrative with the rich character development and heart of the narrative. This book, while long, packs a punch as the reader is treated to a fair deal of powerful imagery used in the author’s writing style, allowing the reader to feel transported to the struggle or this industry. The heart and passion for which the writer puts this story into perspective allows the reader to feel the author’s own life experiences and studies about this industry to shine through on the pages.”

Moreover, this historical narrative was among the books displayed by Author Reputation Press during the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 18–22, 2023. The said event is reportedly known as the world’s largest trade fair for books.
