“Economics 101 for Senators and Representatives: President Obama’s Legacy of Deficit Spending and National Debt” by Wallace Hoffman was among the books displayed by Author Reputation Press during the 2024 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (LATFOB) at the University of Southern California on April 20–21, 2024.
The LATFOB is considered to be one of the world’s most significant literary gatherings. It has been held every year since 1996 with the goal of bringing together the people who create books and the people who love to read them. It is attended by more than 550 authors, celebrities, storytellers, and hundreds of exhibitors.
The Los Angeles Times is the country’s biggest metropolitan daily newspaper, with more than 40 million unique latimes.com visitors monthly, a Sunday print readership of 1.6 million, and a combined print and online local weekly viewership of 4.4 million. The Pulitzer Prize-winning Times has been covering Southern California for more than 140 years.
Author Reputation Press once again showcased some of its amazing books in a wide selection of genres in this year’s LATFOB. This book gallery aims to connect readers and authors by exposing it at an event attended by audiences around the globe.
Wallace Hoffman graduated from Eureka High School, Kansas, as salutatorian of his 1949 class of seventy-seven graduates. He worked four summers in the wheat harvest in western Kansas to finance four years at Kansas State University, where he graduated in 1953 with a BS degree and a commission in the USAF.
He entered pilot training immediately and flew twenty-five years with the USAF. His last assignment was flying C-130s with the Hurricane Hunters at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. He served briefly as a squadron commander before retiring as a lieutenant colonel command pilot.
After air force retirement, Dr. Hoffman resumed his teaching career and taught for 35 years full-time at the seventh-grade level through graduate school. He received a Ph.D. degree in education from Ole Miss. He taught language arts and specialized in teaching American history at several grade levels, American government, and Economics 101.
From his experience with Economics 101 grade books, he began in 2001 maintaining grade books for all senators and representatives based on their roll call votes in the Senate and the House.
The mission of the book “Economics 101 for Senators and Representatives: President Obama’s Legacy of Deficit Spending and National Debt” is to inform all American citizens how their senators and representatives vote in Washington.
Asking them the question, “do your senators and your representative fulfill the responsibilities of government in the Constitution and vote in your favor? If that is true, they are your friends. Or do your senators and your representatives violate the Constitution and vote against your best interests? If that is true, they are your enemies. If you vote for and reelect your enemies, they will be your enemies for the next two or six years.”
