Rev. Dr. Holistic Life Coach Tyrone Waters was born in Portland, Oregon, Multnomah County, and is the proud son of the former Oregon State Senator Avel Gordly (mother) and Neshelle Waters (father). Tyrone is a mental health survivor and advocate.

He was born on January 9, 1966, at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. His father was a retired US Army captain, and his mother is a former Oregon State Senator and a professor in Portland State University’s Black Studies Department.

He grew up living with his mother and grandparents, as well as his father on occasion. His parents divorced when he was still a baby. In 1997, his father died of lung cancer. He attended Irvington Elementary School. He attended Fernwood Middle School in the 1980s and Benson Polytechnic High School in the 1980s, all in Portland, Oregon, where he was raised.

He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of the Persian Gulf conflict of the 1980s. He served and had the pleasure of being around the U.S.S. Ranger with the first African American commanding officer, Captain Walter David, of an aircraft carrier.

This book is about some people who called him crazy, surviving the cruelties of the mental health system, and becoming a life-long learner. To those who read this book, salvation is through the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
