“Tobie” by A. Alex Come’ is now available for purchase

AR Press is honored to publish Tobieby A. Alex Come’. The book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARPress website.

Alex Come’ grew up poor in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Having served in the Marines, the Navy, the Army, and the National Guard and having toured Europe, Japan, Mexico, and Canada, he has developed a keen sense of storytelling.

He previously worked as a salesman, security officer, construction laborer, factory worker, shopfitter, animal caretaker, firefighter, and paramedic and earned a degree in marketing management. He also earned an associate degree at Rice College. He writes in all genres and loves to create.

Alex always appreciates the joy of a good book or movie; for him, as it is for others, it is the great spotlight of the human imagination.

He currently lives just outside a small Indiana town with his wife of 32 years and enjoys long walks through the woods.

TOBIE brings to light historical Old West locations such as Sandia Mountain Range, San Felipe de Neri (Catholic Church) of old Alburquerque, Fort Boise (Idaho), the Bitterroot Wind River Ranges, Humbolt Sink, Fort Kearny, Nebraska Flatlands, and others.

Tobie was written as veneration for the many unknown men, women, and children who dared charge westward where death loitered readily. This is the story of Tobie, the man with no last name, and the characteristics of so many who risked everything in the name of hope, dreams, and adventure!

‘Adventure is the Lifeblood of History.’ Enjoy the read!

“Tobie” presents a Mountain Trapper who rescues a baby boy found alive with his Indian mother, dying in the winter snow. She lives long enough to utter the infant’s first name, TOBIE, then dies. Taken to San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Albuquerque, the baby is left to be placed in an orphanage. It is here he remained until the age of eight.

On a cold, stormy night—his mind filled with boyish dreams—he runs, but his youthful reverie proves unfit for the rigors of nature, and he nearly dies. Found by a Ute warrior, young Tobie is taken to his village and raised as a family until the age of 16, when fate again turns amiss.

Wounded but believed dead during an attack by Army soldiers, he survives, while all others are killed. The village is left burning. Now, at age 16, Tobie is left with one prospect: venture into a world filled with unknowns. The year 1842 is a time in American history when the country is moving fast forward. Now, with great apprehension, he rides alone, into a strange and ill-defined world.
