Calvin H. Taylor is the father of three grown children who all have strong relationships with God. He is a proud veteran of the United States Army, an ordained deacon and teacher, and a member of Freedom Church International in Pell City, Alabama. Early on in his life, he always found himself asking questions about God that were beyond his age, and as he grew, he learned that the most important thing a person who calls himself a Christian must have been a relationship with God. He is still that child asking questions, and God keeps answering so that there will be no excuse when he comes.
In the Bible, it presents the picture of God’s love, judgement, mercy, and grace, and when we are faced with that type of perfection, we ask the question how. In John 15:4, Jesus says, “Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” I asked the question how—one of many questions asked through this walk with the Lord—and the pages of this book are the reply to the question the Lord asked through the Holy Spirit.
“What Kind of House Are You?” by Calvin H. Taylor is about a conversation that was had between Calvin and God through the Holy Spirit. In everyone there is a need to know a higher being, to know the purpose for being and how to obtain it. During one of many periods of contemplation, the Lord entered in and began to discuss His purpose for us and how He made a home for us so that He could have fellowship with us. He then asks the question; how would you have done it? (to make a home for him), so this book is the answer to God’s question.
This motivational book was written for those of us who are always seeking to know who God is, to what purpose He created us for, and how we are qualified to do the work. It is my hope that the reader of this book who has this hole in their lives that cannot be filled will understand that God’s love will fill it; if they seek Him with a sincere heart, He will come in and have fellowship with them. This book is not for those who have learned the importance of the cross but for those who are trying to find their way to the cross.
