“Streams of Living Water: Lectionary Devotional for Cycle B” by Steve McCutchan is now available for purchase

“Advent holds together that tension between a faith that believes God is present to us and a world that raises questions about the absence of God. For many people, faith is based on what others say about the presence of God, and one’s personal experience seems more abstract.”

Author Reputation Press is honored to publish “Streams of Living Water: Lectionary Devotional for Cycle B” by Steve McCutchan. The book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARP website.

The author hopes that the flexibility of the formats and the opportunity to reflect on the lectionary scriptures will encourage you to be good to yourself and strengthen that connection with God that has drawn you into your calling. God’s call in your life was not a mistake, and the church needs your gifts in response to the hunger of God’s people. May God strengthen you for the journey that lies ahead.

Author Steve McCutchan, a graduate of Union Theological Seminary in New York City, spent thirty-eight years in the pastoral ministry interpreting the Gospel to lay people who experience the tension of division in their world.

He currently lives at Westminster Shores in St. Petersburg, FL. He is the author of more than 30 books, including a nine-volume Healthy Clergy Makes Healthy Congregations and several fiction and non-fiction books addressing the issue of racism in our church and society. Books are available on his website, www.smccutchan.com.

The structure of “Streams of Living Water: Lectionary Devotional for Cycle B” builds on two features common to many Christians in mainline churches: the structure of worship and the provision of the Revised Common Lectionary. Whether your church uses the lectionary or not, the format can still be used. You will discover that it will help you feel connected with the wider body of the church that reaches across the world.

The basic structure of most experiences of worship includes the offering of praise, confessing of our sins, being nurtured by the word, offering prayers of thanksgiving and intercession, and experiencing the benediction or blessing of God. The Revised Common Lectionary offers four readings normally drawn from the Hebrew scriptures: the Psalms, the gospels, and the epistles.

In addition to offering theological reflections on each of the lectionary passages in Year B, the author also offers five formats for prayer. A pastor or active lay member could make use of this material on retreat. This volume provides a pastor with a disciplined way of opening oneself to the Spirit in preparation for each Sunday’s worship. Active church members will find this volume an excellent way to listen more deeply during each Sunday’s worship or for small group study that is connected to the weekly worship experience.
