Elizabeth Clayton reveals the idea behind her book “The Myth Of Being” to Ric Bratton

Elizabeth Clayton

Elizabeth Clayton, an educator since her 20s, has shared her inspiration and the idea behind her poetry collection The Myth of Being with Ric Bratton for This Week in America, a nationally syndicated radio program in the United States. The book chronicles her earliest impressions and memories transcribed when she was a young adult.

In an interview with Bratton, the author revealed how the book’s title came to be. The poems are written over a period of three or four years of age until her second marriage coupled with her difficult struggle with bipolar illness in the 1970s.

After retiring as a teacher, Elizabeth switched focus to her literary works, reviewing and polishing drafts prior to final publication. The Myth of Being acknowledges the pain and the struggle without lacking appreciation for times past, however painful. Listen to the full interview below.
