H. Allenger, author of “Polyxena”, on his interest in literature since the early days and other literary influences

H. Allenger, author of Polyxena, recently shared with Author Reputation Press the inspiration behind his book, his literary influences, and another fictional work in progress.
ARPress: Can you mention some literary influences that help mold you as a writer?
Allenger: I’ve always had an interest in literature going back to my high school days. That, and traveling to countries like Turkey and Mexico, had an influence on the subject matter of my novels. In addition, certain movies like Wolfgang Peterson’s ‘Troy’ provided me with the impetus to write Polyxena.
ARPress: How did you come up with the idea for this book?
Allenger: I was attracted to the name Polyxena and started doing research into her. I discovered that very little has been written about her which gave me considerable latitude on what I could say about her.
ARPress: Are you working on a sequel?
Allenger: No.
ARPress: Do you have any other books in progress?
Allenger:Yes. I have a book titled ‘Assortments’ that I’m working on. It’s a series of short storied based on some strange
dreams I’ve had.
ARPress: What is your favorite line/part from your book?
Allenger:I like the line where Priam tells his daughter Polyxena about Cassandra: “She sees a threat in everyone. Don’t listen to her.”
Cassandra was cursed by the god Apollo to have the gift of prophecy but to never be believed. Priam was affirming this curse.
