Paul Vollmin’s work, Still Standing: A Personal Journey to Find the Heart of God and to Restore Mine, was released in collaboration with Author Reputation Press. It evokes a narrative that being favored by God is not merely about finding a good parking place, having a large deposit account, or even having a life filled with healthy relationships, as many people believe. It’s so much more than that. It’s about endless riches and blessings that go beyond anything one could ever ask or think.
What does being a Christian entail? Jesus didn’t come to start a religion or a legion of fans. He came to establish a relationship. Storms, conflicts, and valleys will try to rip the dream from our hearts.
God sometimes shows Himself to us when we least expect it. It could occur in a supernatural manner. Other times, it could be due to the most innocuous of conditions. And every now and then, we’ll come face to face with Him in the midst of the crucible of testing. However, wherever we meet Him, it is a sacred place.
Paull Vollmin grew up in a prairie farm family with a close-knit church group and believed that a Christian should be different. But, despite the fact that the Bible says he changes when he accepts Jesus as his Savior, he doesn’t feel transformed. As Vollmin progresses into a rebellious stage, he begins to indulge in his own personal failings, losing touch with his faith and living lie after lie.
As a young husband and parent, he eventually can’t take it anymore and ends up in the hospital with severe depression, contemplating suicide as a feasible option. Vollmin’s personal experience of coming to terms with the past and present in light of his faith in Jesus Christ is told in Still Standing: A Personal Journey to Find the Heart of God and to Restore Mine.
